Fast Day Fly In 2004

Some Fast Day Views from our 2004 event

I would like to thank everybody that showed up for the Fast Day Fly-In. The weather turned out to be just about perfect. There were way to many planes to count but a guess would be about forty planes and a hundred people turned out to greet Fast Day. This was way above our expectations and we were a bit unprepared, we ran out of hamburgers a little more than two hours into the event, we did have hot dogs until the end. I had my first bite to eat a little after the end of the event. I had the last hot dog during clean up. Anyway next year we will have more hamburgers.

What a lot of planes! Old planes and new planes, simple VFR to complex twins, The only moment of any “excitement” was when we were worried that there was not enough room on the ramp for the C&S jet to taxi in. Notes to self, remind folks that we have to keep a way open for the jet. That would keep us out of trouble with the airport management.

I had thought that a possible problem with Keene airport for a fly-in is the size of the airport. It is not posible to watch the planes land and take off. So we came up with a solution? Close a runway! Wait do not panic this is not Meigs, let me explain. We still had the long runway 02/20 open. The short runway 14/32 was closed for a RC aircraft demo. A lot of the non flying folk had a real kick watching the small aircraft fly, some pilots also thought that if they only could get their planes to fly like that.

Four RV's showed up

Along with a couple Kit Fox's
