EAA Chapter 1314's

Fast Day Fly-In 2006

After hedging our bets we decided to have our Fast Day Fly-In on the third Saturday of April, It had been a bit warm and we thought that the bugs may come out early. Saturday turned out to be cloudy and blustery, winds of up to 15 knots or more. A large shower passed to the North of as we were on the Field. Because of the winds some of expected participants and aircraft failed to show. However we had plenty of Burgers and Dogs. We had four planes fly-in and at least a like number of drive-in’s. The Manadnock CAP Squadron professionally handled marshaling of the aircraft parking. I am sure they also wished we had more aircraft. Our thanks to them.

Because of the wind it took a bit longer for the burgers to cook on the grill, At times there was even a waiting line for the burgers and dogs. Fortunately we did get some interest in the chapter, and maybe a new member or two. A couple of folks from Concords Chapter 1384 also stopped by. I handed out a couple of “EAA Sport Pilot Sourcebooks” We have more Sport Pilot sourcebooks if anyone is interested. According to my wife, the treasurer we made $14 so we at least did not lose any money. Also we have lots of potato chips left over.

Not a bad fly-in for a rather blustery day.
